When we hear the phrase vintage lingerie, we might think of a time when underwear was supposed to be uncomfortable – that’s not the case for Canadian lingerie designer Renee Soles of Inspiration Vintage.
“The funny thing is I made myself a couple pairs of undies because I was frustrated with what was out there. I have a big butt and (the panties) were always riding up, making me so uncomfortable,” she said.
Her own problem solved and a new passion discovered, Inspiration Vintage became one of the Canadian lingerie brands known for comfort and style, producing limited collections of ready-to-wear and custom panties, bralettes, and bodysuits in silhouettes from the 50s and 60s.
“I’ve always had an appreciation for vintage, and then when I studied fashion design to meld one into the other, that just made it way more exciting,” Renee said.
Adding more excitement, Lingerie In Canada and Inspiration Vintage are working together to produce Julie, a local collection that comes in a vibrant ocean blue, trimmed with champagne-coloured ruffles and satin bow, and made with the soft/strong combination of rayon bamboo and spandex.
